What’s your nutritional philosophy?
I believe that nutrition is the foundation that supports our lives and our ability to truly thrive. If you can find what works for you, and get that running in the background, it frees up your time and energy for everything else.
I do believe that there are fundamental principles when it comes to adopting a healthier diet, regardless of your eating style — such as eating more real food. But beyond that, the nuances are unique to the individual.
There is so much value in tuning in to how food makes you feel, so that you can evaluate these nuances for yourself. This allows you to create an eating style with intention, based on your own unique goals, instead of relying on an eating style derived from how you were raised, what someone on the internet says, or what the office orders for lunch.
Why did you become a Health Coach?
My interest in nutrition started out in its relevancy to sport performance. I grew up playing sports, continuing my athletic career as a D1 soccer player, and finding CrossFit shortly after graduating college.
Once I joined the work force as a personal trainer, though, I started working long and odd hours, and I found I lacked the energy I needed to make it through the day. That inspired me to begin looking at food in terms of life performance as opposed to just weight management and sports performance.
I decided to become a health coach because I wanted to learn how to address wellness from a holistic standpoint that went beyond just fitness and nutrition.
How long have you been working for KBK?
Since February 2019.
What’s the weirdest healthy food/beverage you love?
Sea veggies – they’re completely underrated!
What’s your favorite type of workout?
CrossFit. I stumbled upon it in 2012, and it was the most fun I’ve ever had in a gym.
What’s your favorite non fitness/food hobby?
Reading. I am a total nerd for nonfiction.
What’s your favorite KBK meal?
Grass-fed steak & yucca.
What’s the best part about working for KBK?
It’s awesome to be part of a team that shares a like-minded mission of helping improve people’s lives through nutrition. It’s so inspiring!
