Meet The Nutritionist: Lauren Gill
What’s your educational background?
Bachelor of Science
Precision Nutrition Certified Coach
What’s your nutritional philosophy?
My nutritional philosophy can be summed up in one word: balance
I feel that the key to finding that happy medium where we can be confident with ourselves and our nutritional choices on a daily basis lies within creating a sustainable, goal-oriented lifestyle.
Why did you become a Nutrition Coach?
This one is a bit of a two-part answer:
My own journey to wellness began eight years ago after gaining weight due to an injury and overall poor nutrition. After trial and error, I found a method that worked, which eventually became the root of my nutritional philosophy and I wanted to share what I experienced and learned with others.
Fast forward a few years after I stepped into my first CrossFit gym, (shout-out CrossFit Queens) I started training in a more competitive manner and decided to dial in on my nutrition. I began working with a nutrition coach and tracking my macros, and from there my interest only grew. I wanted to know how nutrition could increase my performance as an athlete. Eventually, I began calculating macros for some fellow gym members in addition to helping them make small, yet sustainable lifestyle changes. This, in combination with my past life experiences, has led me to find my love of helping people become the best versions of themselves and therefore my niche in nutrition.
How long have you been working for KBK?
I’ve been working for KBK since March 2019.
What’s the weirdest healthy food/beverage you love?
It’s not necessarily weird, but I have an obsession with Korean sweet potatoes. I’ve been eating them probably 3-4 times a week for the past two years.
What’s your favorite type of workout?
CrossFit, particularly workouts that involve a heavy barbell.
What’s your favorite non fitness/food hobby?
Painting, reading, and ironically, baking are my favorite ways to unwind and de-stress.
What’s your favorite KBK meal?
It’s a tie between the Salmon Cakes and the Grass-fed Steak & Yucca.
What’s the best part about working for KBK?
It’s so exciting to be able to share my passion for nutrition and improving the lives of others with a team of individuals who are just as enthusiastic about it. I love being able to geek out about macros, and KBK provides the perfect platform to do just that.
